506G Montana de Oro Trip
By Layla, Webmaster Troop 506G
During this spring break, our 506G scouts were able to go to Montana de Oro for a week long car camping trip. The scouts had fun hiking, kayaking, swimming, and exploring the island. The Scouts saw gorgeous views on their hikes; the picture below is from their hike.

They had the chance to explore some tide pools at Spooners Cove, which is known for their tide pools, caves, and unique rock formations. These tide pools had tiny crabs and other plant life that the Scouts enjoyed seeing.

Scouts also got to learn more about the history of Southern California, Baja California, and Spanish Missions at the Museum of Natural History and the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa.

One of the Scouts’ favorite parts of the trip was visiting the town Solvang. Solvang is a very special town that showcases a lot of Danish culture and various European bakeries and shops.
Not only did the Scouts get to do fun and unique exploring of Montana de Oro, but they were also able to have time to get sign offs and move towards rank advancements. They also had fun around the campfire and played music.
